Macdonough Hall
Poole Fire Protection served as the Qualified Fire Protection Engineer to Stanley Consultants, the prime AE, for the Renovation of Macdonough Hall Building 102, at the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA), in Annapolis, Maryland. The six story, 128,000 SF building built in 1903, athletic instructional facility was originally built to serve as a dry dock facility for the USNA. It has been extensively renovated over the years to house instructional and intercollegiate team sporting venues, academic areas, and training areas. The building is located on a National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The design was performed to Secretary of the Interior standards for Historic Preservation; and consultation with the Maryland State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO).
Poole Fire Protection performed all life safety and US fire code compliance actions per UFC 3-600-01 and NFPA 101. The design team worked closely with the historic preservation architect to arrive at a solution for exterior window refurbishment, replacement and/or modification relative to AT/FP. The facility design is registered with USGBC as LEED Certified.
