The responsibility for ensuring that a facility’s network of fire protection and life safety systems operates lies with a building’s owner. Maintaining the appropriate documentation of the completed inspections is just a small part of that process.

Poole Fire Protection provides customized training to each facility’s in-house staff so they are properly trained to provide the legally required minimum inspections along with more detailed training on intricate special hazard systems.

This training process allows a firm’s in-house staff to complete the needed inspections without relying on an outside service. It provides the comfort of knowing that knowledgeable personnel are on-site daily and are trained to supplement the local jurisdiction’s intermittent inspections.

LIFE SAFETY

Participants learn the requirements and systems that protect people and property. We will teach about construction, protection, and occupancy features required to minimize danger to life from the effects of fire, smoke, heat, and toxic gases. Participants will also learn about means of egress from a building and the requirements of the Life Safety Code (NFPA 101) and the Means of Egress chapter of the International Building Code.

AUTOMATIC SPRINKLER SYSTEMS

We provide an engaging training covering the principles of the components, application, design, installation, and use of automatic sprinkler systems - including wet, dry, preaction, and deluge sprinkler systems as well as the related NFPA 13 requirements for sprinkler systems. Participants will also learn about the design strategies for storage occupancies, and selecting the best method of fire control or extinguishment given the commodity and arrangement of storage - including facilities which utilize Automated Storage and Retrieval Storage (ASRS) Systems.

FIRE ALARM & DETECTION SYSTEMS

We offer training on fire alarm and detection systems to develop to ensure your team has the knowledge necessary to use these systems effectively and efficiently. We will also educate your team on how NFPA 72 is used for the design, installation, and maintenance of fire detection and alarm systems and how the Code is structured. This training also includes details on the type and frequencies of the required inspection, testing and maintenance required to be performed on your system.

MASS NOTIFICATION SYSTEMS

These systems provide automatic emergency communications through both live and pre-recorded voice messaging and distributed system messaging to mobile devices, computer systems, and signage equipment. We will provide your team with training on advanced administration, optimization, troubleshooting and maintenance for mass notification systems, including design and testing for voice intelligibility of your system.

RISK ASSESSMENTS

Hazard recognition and risk assessment are essential skills in your workplace. Many of the codes and standards we utilize today in the fire protection industry allow the registered design professional to perform a risk assessment to understand the hazards and risk associated with a facility or process. This risk assessment can then be used to establish the performance-based design requirements for a project. This training will provide your team with the skills required to evaluate risks and hazards throughout your facilities and determine what needs to be done to control health and safety risks.
