We were proud to be represented at the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Kansas 2019 Conference in Wichita, Kansas on September 12-13. Zach Parks, Fire Protection Engineer, presented on “Disruptive Forces in Fire Protection and Life Safety,” and focused on fire stopping considerations and the State of Kansas’ move towards adoption of the 2021 I-Codes. If adopted, five code development cycles of changes to the codes will rapidly transform Kansas into a leader in the design and construction of safe, sustainable, affordable and resilient structures. The key message of the presentation was for the architects to embrace the changes and learn about the latest improvements to the codes that impact safety in the built environment.
