Fire Protection System Survey

Fire Protection System Survey and RFP Preparation

As part of a NAVFAC Southwest IDIQ contract, Poole Fire Protection performed and coordinated all field work and study reports to compile a Fire Protection Engineering Survey report evaluating the installation’s (NAWS China Lake, CA) infrastructure to identify deficiencies that pose a significant risk to the mission of the installation or support commands, impact the protected public, or increase risk or pose a significant challenge to first responders.

The surveys included evaluations of the base water supply (including flow testing of hydrants (25) and full testing of fire pumps (21) as well as evaluation of water supply tanks), fire alarm reporting system, maintenance of facility fire protection systems (including sprinkler and standpipes systems, interior fire alarm systems, fire detection systems including very early smoke detection, exterior fire alarm reporting systems, mass notification systems, firefighting access and water supply systems, fire pump systems, fire protection water storage systems, gaseous fire extinguishing systems, fire compartmentalization, and fire stopping), and target facilities (i.e. aircraft hangars, high rise buildings, public assemblies, fuel storage tanks, and warehouses).

Our team also performed the field work to gather data for and the development of a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the replacement of the Fire Alarm Reporting System for 330 facilities at NAWS China Lake, 125 facilities at NAS Fallon, 100 facilities at NWS Seal Beach and Corona, and 75 facilities at San Clemente and Naval Outlying Area Imperial Beach.
