Fire and life safety concerns are critical decisions that must be a high priority when planning a building design. Our team is hands-on in designing and developing the perfect system for your project. Whether it be a Fire Suppression, Fire Alarm and Detection, or the design of a Special Hazard system, we create the best fit for your need and budget. Using 3D design software - such as REVIT and AutoSPRINK - we can show you exactly what it will look like before we even get started.

Poole Fire Protection is recognized as an industry leader and pioneer in fire protection and life safety design. Our team consists of licensed fire protection engineers and design professionals who are certified by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET). Their deep knowledge and experience has equipped them to deliver accurate, cost-effective fire protection and life system designs performed in accordance with all applicable codes and standards.

We deliver a proven management and technical approach, a well-qualified and experienced design team, a sound corporate support philosophy and an unwavering commitment in partnering to ensure your project’s success.

FIRE DETECTION & FIRE ALARM SYSTEMS

In case of fire, the solution isn’t as simple as “breaking the glass.” A well-designed fire alarm system is absolutely essential to providing maximum safety for your employees and the public.

Members of our engineering team are intimately familiar with the codes that govern the design, installation and maintenance of fire detection and fire alarm systems. The firm’s licensed fire protection engineers and NICET technicians develop design criteria, create detailed design drawings that include circuitry and layout of devices, and conduct reviews of plans or specifications developed by third parties.

AUTOMATIC SPRINKLER SYSTEMS

Poole Fire Protection has extensive experience in developing design criteria and detailed design of automatic sprinkler systems for all types of construction and occupancy arrangements. Several staff members serve on the NFPA technical committees responsible for design and installation of sprinkler systems. Poole Fire Protection can provide cost effective design and installation concepts for new construction or for retrofitting protection into existing buildings. The firm has experience with both “control” and “suppression” sprinkler technology and design criteria.

SPECIAL HAZARD SUPPRESSION SYSTEMS

Although rarely a code requirement, these systems often supplement, and sometimes take the place, of more costly fire protection features the code may require. Knowing how, when and where to apply this technology is a specialty area of fire protection design. Poole Fire Protection can establish the design criteria, develop the detailed design and oversee the installation of these systems:

  • Clean Agent Systems
  • Inerting Systems
  • High Speed Deluge Systems
  • High Expansion Foam Systems
  • Low Expansion (AFFF) Foam Systems
  • Kitchen Hood Wet/Dry Chemical Systems

FIRE PROTECTION WATER SUPPLY

Poole Fire Protection conducts hydraulic analysis of both public and private water supply systems and then develops criteria to satisfy the client’s objectives and fire code requirements.

BUILDING COMPONENTS & SMOKE MANAGEMENT

Statistics prove that, in a fire, more people die of smoke inhalation than of burns. We develop computer models to predict the movement of smoke and toxic gas through the building and refine plans accordingly. Construction management services assure these features are installed appropriately, are in compliance with the code, and meet the satisfaction of the Authority Having Jurisdiction.

ENGINEERED ALTERNATIVES

While not dismissing the importance of codes and standards, Poole Fire Protection’s knowledgeable professionals do not overlook the possibility of implementing alternative methods of design and construction. Fire and life safety codes can often hinder the architectural design intent for unique construction projects. Our team will work with you to develop creative solutions, providing an equivalent level of protection which may even reduce costs. By looking beyond the immediate issue, we can help reduce construction costs by using performance-based design and engineered alternatives. Our engineers work with the Authorities Having Jurisdiction to resolve code conflicts and obtain project approval.

COMPUTER MODELING

Research into fire growth and smoke movement within a building provides an assessment of the building’s performance during a fire. We leverage this technology to assure a practical approach for active and passive fire protection features including engineered alternatives. National Institute of Science and Technology programs are used for fire and smoke modeling. This technology can also verify life safety design criteria and building occupant egress times.

A chief concern when designing facilities is the movement of people in an emergency. How will they respond to smoke movement or when encountering physical barriers while trying to vacate the premises? Our modeling services will help you assess the movement of people throughout your facility and assist with validating alternative designs, materials and engineering concepts.

PLAN REVIEW & CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT

We work with you to ensure code requirements for your project are full understood early in the design process to ensure building permit approvals are timely. We will be with you to review design drawings and make sure they comply with the applicable fire protection and life safety codes and standards.

We will review your design and construction documents and oversee the installation of systems and equipment. Our oversight of the system’s witness acceptance testing ensures the job is done right.

COMPUTER ASSISTED DRAFTING

Poole Fire Protection is experienced in computer assisted drafting and design techniques. CAD standards are based upon NFPA 170 symbols and are used on every project to deliver a consistent and quality product. Poole Fire Protection also has experience in using REVIT and MicroStation.

DESIGN-BUILD

Our design-build project delivery system provides our clients with a streamlined approach to fire protection and life safety projects. Poole Fire Protection will manage all fire protection related aspects of the project from design through final acceptance testing, reducing completion time, minimizing change orders and freeing up our clients’ resources to work on other aspects of their project.

Our network of installation professionals allow us to build a team that will not only help win projects, but make them a success. Poole Fire Protection’s design-build project delivery system allows us to provide our clients with the same innovative designs and deliver the added benefit of single-source responsibility for the entire fire protection and life safety component of their projects.
